Fiber Optic Construction Technician


Location: 10 miles South of Waupaca, WI
Prerequisites: None
Experience Required: None - Experience Using Basic Power Tools Preferred.

The position involves digging trenches, placing conduit, and running fiber optic cable. You will be expected to use some basic power tools, such as a drill or a sawzall. Previous experience not necessary as all training and tools are provided but you'll at least need to know what a shovel is, and how to use it. You may be working near some larger machinery to assist the operator, and may be trained how to operate that equipment on a long enough timeline.

You must have reliable transportation to the job site.

Flexible Schedule, 10-30 hours a week, depending on the project and weather.

Starting pay is $17/hour during initial training period, $25/hour after Training Period**

** The speed at which you pick up on things dictates how long your training period lasts. Expect between 40 and 120 hours.

Qualifications:

  1. Be honest, and willing to learn new things
  2. Be able to complete tasks without close supervision after being taught how to do them the first time.
  3. Know what a shovel is and how to use it.
  4. Be physically capable of digging holes and trenches, lifting moderately heavy objects, and walking extended distances.
  5. Be willing to get dirty.
